We are a group of women who are trying our best to say YES to God by following the example of Mary’s Fiat.
What is a Fiat?
fi·at (fē’ət, -āt’, -ät’, fī’āt’, -ət) n.
- An arbitrary order or decree.
- Authorization or sanction: government fiat.
So in our own way, we are first of all we are submitting a decree. Second, we are authorizing God into our lives and to be the Lord of our lives.
Mary’s Fiat
In Luke 1: 38:
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
About the Authors
We are Catholic women who are doing our best to truly seek God. To live passionately and to love God with our whole hearts, souls, minds and strength. We are friends who grew up together who find joy in sharing our faith with one another and wanted to share it with you. We are not scholars or experts, we are just followers. We try and follow the Catholic Church as best we can, however, the opinions expressed here are not necessarily the viewpoints of the Catholic Church itself. If you have any concerns about what you see on this site, please feel free to contact us by email fiatwomen[at]gmail[dot]com or comment on any one of our posts!
